Please don't be this person:

Hey Reader,

As an autistic + ADHD person, I sometimes question my social skills. Then I get a DM disguising a sales funnel as a Valentine's date. And suddenly I feel great about myself.

I'll let the screenshot speak for itself. But whatever you do, don't click it. It might be contagious.

The Money Date. On Valentine's Day. My partner is going to LOVE this.

But let me tell you why this matters beyond the comedy.

This DM is a masterclass in what not to do when you're trying to get clients through content or outreach. I see versions of it every single day.

  • The bait-and-switch. Opening with warmth you haven't earned, then flipping to a pitch. Your reader feels tricked. Tricked people don't buy. They screenshot and send it to group chats.
  • The manufactured intimacy. 'Are you open to making a new friend.' We are strangers. You think pretending otherwise builds rapport? Nah. It builds the quadruple ick.
  • The holiday hijack. Piggybacking on Valentine's Day to sell a business consultation. Read the room. Then close the laptop and go outside.

The fix isn't even complicated. If you want to reach someone, warm a girl up a little. Comment on their posts. Like something. Find a mutual topic to open with. Shows you care. Shows you're a person, not a pitch bot in a blazer.

I did ONE week of strategic outreach when I had to rebuild my business last summer. One week. Ever since, I've been pulling in 10 leads a week through organic content. I'm teaching the exact method in Content to Gigs, my upcoming cohort.

I'm closing the waitlist this week by the way. If you want first dibs when registration opens on Monday, this is it.

Join before you become someone's screenshot.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Magali
